About us

Yorkshire Food Finder is all about celebrating the finest food and drink England’s largest county has to offer.

And what better way to do that than taking you on Yorkshire food trails for unique behind-the-scenes access to producers at work, and chefs who turn their food into celebratory feasts of Yorkshire's abundant bounty?

We’ve been rummaging through Yorkshire’s larder for years enjoying a cornucopia of local produce that’s second to none. And now we want to share it with you through our exclusive culinary trails featuring artisan producers and some of our finest chefs.

Great Yorkshire cooking follows the seasons; the wealth, quality and diversity of local ingredients inspire the creation of exciting and unusual dishes, often with a singularly Yorkshire twist, with menus dictated by what comes through the kitchen door.

But the opportunities to go behind the scenes and see at first hand how such quality produce is ending up on some of the finest restaurant tables in Yorkshire are few and far between.

Like us, have you ever wondered about the people behind the name on a meat tag, fish box, packet label, bottle or jar? Who it is that makes a particular food so special? What it is they do so differently that makes their produce stand out above all others? And where are they creating such fine food and drink?

Which is where we come in. We think Yorkshire produce is so great, so special that we’ve linked up with some of the best food and drink producers and renowned chefs the county has to offer to develop a series of exclusive trails that showcase how fantastic Yorkshire ingredients translate to the plate.

Which is where we come in. We think Yorkshire produce is so great, so special that we’ve linked up with some of the best food and drink producers and renowned chefs the county has to offer to develop a series of exclusive trails that showcase how fantastic Yorkshire ingredients translate to the plate.

In our food finding travels to bring these people and their food to you we’ve discovered some wonderful characters – passionate, committed people, some typically dour Yorkshire, some not, but all of whom care deeply about what they’re doing.

We’ve found them in converted barns and old mills, tucked away in hidden valleys or perched high on the moors and wolds. They’re at the end of village lanes or on the edge or parklands, on farms or rural business parks, inthe back of shops or on smallholdings. And all of them are producing their fare or presenting it on their menus against some of the best scenic backdrops that Yorkshire has to offer.

As for us, we’re just full-on foodies equally at home creating in the kitchen, sitting at a restaurant table or munching fish and chips on Scarborough sea front. Our working lives have taken us far and wide over the years – from journalism, to railways, to consultancy and policing at home and abroad – but food and what to do with it has always been our passion and a joy to come home to.

And now we’re putting it first. Join us on a Yorkshire Food Finder trail and share that passion with us.
