Ben Cox

The Star @ Sancton's owner and chef Ben Cox thrives on sourcing the very best of local produce to put on the menu, which changes regularly. Ben, who won the Great Yorkshire Pudding Challenge last year, serves high-quality Yorkshire-sourced food in a relaxed atmosphere. The pub has won a string of awards, this year winning the Remarkable Pub category for a second year running, plus the Remarkable Taste Award in the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism awards. 

 

Much of The Star @ Sancton's menu consists of produce from village allotments and from its own vegetable gardens, with Ben and wife Lindsey who runs front of house, being committed from day one to sourcing local produce from around them in East Yorkshire. They use fresh local meat, fish from the east coast and free-range eggs from the next village. Local micro-brewery beers are also on sale. The success and popularity of The Star @ Sancton has prompted growth, so two years ago the couple re-opened the place after a large extension and refurbishment. Ben now has his larger kitchen with a specially designed cooking suite.
